Chin Implant Surgery can help patients who are unhappy with the size or projection of their chin. Through the use of chin implants, we can enhance the size of the chin or correct the projection to achieve your desired results. This form of chin augmentation, or chin enhancement, often creates a more harmonious overall appearance of the face by bringing all features into a proportional and beautiful balance.
Is Chin Implant Surgery Right for You?
Dr. Paine can work with you to develop your own chin surgery plan to help achieve your ideal look. Each chin implant is individually created to the specifications of the patient’s unique situations and goals. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your chin or feel that it is too small or receded, this chin surgery procedure may be the right choice for you.
Chin Augmentation Surgery Procedure
This chin implant surgery usually takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. An incision is made by Dr. Paine, and a pocket is designed to allow the chin implant to be placed directly over the bone along the lower jaw. For solid silicon implants, the incision is made under the chin. When biocompatible material is used (Medpor, for example) an incision is placed inside the mouth. After the implant has been secured, sutures are used to close the incisions.
Chin Surgery Recovery
Swelling and bruising may occur but should subside within four to six weeks. Feelings of tingling or numbness are also common but will not linger more than a few days. Most patients are able to return to work in one or two days.
Chin Surgery Results
Results will be visible immediately. However, final results may not be observed until up to six months after surgery. It is important to remain patient and optimistic during the recovery process. The final results of your chin surgery will provide you with the beautiful, naturally balanced appearance you desire.
