A carbon dioxide (CO2) laser for skin resurfacing treatment precisely removes outer layers of damaged skin to reveal the underlying skin which is softer, smoother, and younger looking. It is also a very effective treatment for acne scarring.
This is an ablative laser skin procedure with great results, but it also has the most downtime. Downtime varies from patient to patient, but typically for the first few days your skin will need to be protected, then will gradually heal over the next week. Most patients look like they have had a bad sunburn around day seven. The redness will gradually fade over the next several weeks. Sun protection is an absolute must with this procedure.
