Septoplasty

septoplasty procedure, Septoplasty

Deviated Septum Correction

The nasal septum is the piece of bone and cartilage that divides your two nostrils. If the septum becomes deviated, it can cause breathing problems and may cause some discomfort in one’s appearance. A septoplasty is a surgical procedure performed to correct a deviated septum. Dr. Paine can restore proper breathing and a more balanced appearance of the nose with a septoplasty procedure.

Should You Consider Septoplasty?

Men and women who struggle with a deviated septum suffer from an obstructed airway and have difficulty breathing. A deviated septum may also cause an imbalance in your facial appearance or a crooked nose. If you have a deviated septum, a septoplasty with Dr. Paine can help to restore both the function and appearance of your nose.

Septoplasty Procedure Steps

Septoplasty involves the straightening and repositioning of your septum so it is aligned with the center of your nose and face. Dr. Paine will work to create an even separation between the two nostrils. This can help open up any nasal obstruction that was caused by irregular deviation of the nasal septum.

After Your Septoplasty

You will be able to return home the same day of your procedure. We advise having a friend or loved one stay the night with you to provide any necessary assistance. You may experience some swelling near the surgery site, but this should fade within a few days. Dr. Paine will place a gauze moustache dressing that will collect any bleeding from the nostrils. It is normal to have to change this dressing hourly for the first day of your recovery.

Over the next several days, the results of your septoplasty will become more apparent. You will notice a change in the appearance of your nose, and should also experience improvements to your breathing.

Septoplasty

Dr. Paine is a board-certified cosmetic surgeon and an ENT specialist in Beckley, West Virginia. To learn more about the septoplasty surgery, contact Dr. Paine and Mountain State Cosmetic Surgery.
